What a magical wedding at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley with Grace and Marcus! What I love about Grace and Marcus is that they are so much fun and genuine. They had so many little touches that really made their day a true reflection of who they are. Before their wedding they told me that they hoped the mood of their wedding would be best expressed in the song “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers. These two are the perfect compliment for each other and their wedding was definitely was a lovely day.
The day started off with a romantic vow exchange between the two of them as they were getting ready. Between preppping for the day, they wrote their vows to one another and Marcus left a special love note on the bottom of Grace’s shoes. For their vow exchange, they had each of their siblings deliver their vows to one another in their hotel rooms. They decided on private vows that they could enjoy and share with just one another.
During the getting ready moments of the day, Marcus surprised his groomsmen with specialty watches, fun socks, matching Vans shoes and a small bottle of his grandfather’s bourbon that he had been saving. The other aspects of their personality was that they had all their tables named after different points at Lake Tahoe which is a special spot that they love going to together. For their favors, they also chose to give their guests bottles of BBQ sauce since Grace always brings BBQ sauces back for Marcus when she travels.
One of the most special personal touches was at their alter during their wedding ceremony. They had an old picture window with pictures of their loved ones who are no longer with them. During the ceremony, they had a candle lighting ceremony in honor of both of their moms who have passed away.
Instead of the traditional bouquet and garter toss, they decided to mix it up a little. Grace and her friend group have a tradition of passing a special bouquet to the next bride. Instead of the garter toss, Marcus tied the garter to a football and threw it to the next groom. It was a really cool way to pass on the good energy of their wedding to the next bride and groom.
Even though a mist rolled in, nothing could stop this party. The whole night the dance floor was packed and they even headed off to an after party after the wedding had ended. I loved sharing in their special day and capturing their wedding. Congrats, Grace & Marcus!!
