I started my wedding photography journey in 2013 when I met my husband. He had done wedding photography on and off for years and I was looking to try it out. I have always loved the drama and epic nature of weddings. From the romantic moments, and hilarious party shots down to the smallest details- I loved it all. Weddings are many things but they are never boring. As a photographer, there’s a little but of every kind of photography such as portraits, macro details shots, action shots, natural light and flash and so much more. Through shooting weddings, I learned it all.
I spent years studying and honing my craft, but the 2020 pandemic hit and everything changed. Weddings were cancelled or postponed and everything seemed to be in total chaos. But that time gave me space to try new things and see what my life would be like without wedding photography.
Weddings have always been a challenge that tested and taught me but I discovered that they were also wearing me out. The stress of a wedding day coupled with the fear of hurting myself before a wedding began to take a toll. I stepped away from weddings for a year, then another year and another… and I found that I was so much happier exploring new adventures and new creative projects. I still miss connecting with all my wedding couples and I will forever be grateful that they chose me to tell their love stories. I’ve been fortunate that I have a chance to see my wedding couples again, but this time through family portraits!
While I may have moved on from weddings, I have not given up on photography. I still photograph family, maternity, senior/graduation, theatre, and headshots. I’m happier than ever as I embark on this new journey!
