Chris & Angie’s Wedding at St Dunstan Catholic Church and Jogo Novo

Who says intimate weddings can’t be epic? This was such an incredibly sweet wedding and such a special day for Chris and Angie. It was extra special for me because Chris has been my friend and capoeira teacher for many years and I am so happy that he has found the perfect partner in Angie! It was such an honor to be there to photograph their day.

It was an intimate day with close friends and family. They were married at St Dunstan Catholic Church which is the church that Chris grew up going to and holds special meaning for him.

It is really had to choose a favorite moment from the day because there were so many poignant and romantic moments. One moment that stands out to me is right before the guests arrived when Chris was in the church with his cousin and a close friend went up into the choir loft and began to sing one of the songs from the ceremony. It was “Hallelujah” with some of the words changed to match the two of them. The reason I love this moment is that it was really moving to Chris and it really set the tone for the rest of day as they start their lives together.

Another favorite moment of mine was the first dance and the parent dances at the reception. The reception took place at Chris’ capoeira, martial arts and dance studio that they both teach at. They transformed the space and made it into a lovely reception hall complete with a donut wall, a fun balloon wall, and elegant tables and details. The reason I loved the special dances so much is that there was so much emotion between the two of them during the first dance especially now that they are going to have a little baby later this year! The parent dances were extra special to watch because it was as if there were three generations on the dance floor; their parents, the bride and groom and their little baby to be.

I am so happy for the two of them and their new family! Congrats on a beautiful day and the start of the next chapter in their lives!
